Do you need a passport to drive to Rocky Point? Only if you want to come back the the USA. The Mexican government does not require one. But passports are required to return to the USA. If you are driving to the rest of Mexico, through any crossing except Sonoyta or San Luis Rio Colorado, you need a US passport.
